Strong Storms and Gusty Winds Expected Monday

See the attached briefing highlighting the risk areas and timing for strong to severe storms late tonight and Monday.


Threats: Damaging winds are the main threat. However, a few tornadoes are possible as well. Even outside of any storms, strong, gusty winds are then expected during the day on Monday before diminishing Monday evening.

Location: Entire area. 

Timing:  Showers and thunderstorms will approach from the west late tonight. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will then move across our area Monday morning into Monday afternoon.

Overview and Impacts:

⦁ Scattered showers & thunderstorms are expected early Monday morning west of I-95, continuing into early Monday afternoon along the coast.

⦁ Damaging winds are the primary threat with any storms, but a few tornadoes are possible as well.

⦁ On Monday, winds are expected to gust to 55-60 mph across the Lower Eastern Shore outside of any thunderstorm, with 45-50 mph gusts elsewhere.

⦁ These high winds will result in downed trees/power lines, causing numerous power outages.

⦁ Marine: Storm Warnings are in effect for the northern coastal waters late tonight-Monday, with Gale Warnings now in effect across the remainder of the marine area.
